EXPRESSIONS
OF WELLNESS

Welcome to the My Voice Media Center Blog, where creativity and self-care meet.

Join us each week for session spotlights, event highlights, and reflections on how art and community support mental wellness.

June 2025: Summer Splash

Summer has arrived in the Central Valley, and the heat is just getting started. Luckily, this month's color, Orange Sherbet, brings a cool and creamy vibe to balance the rising temps. It's a color that feels like summer break and creativity all at once.

Our theme for June is Lifelong Learning. Whether you're a seasoned artist or trying something new for the first time, there's always room to grow! Join us at the MVMC to stay cool while making something meaningful.

Session Spotlight: Rescued Wood (Friday 10-12)

Coming soon to MVMC is Rescued Wood, a hands-on session led by our newest facilitator, Buddy Jones. Participants will work with reclaimed and salvaged materials, including 2,000-year-old wood, to craft personal art pieces that tell a story of transformation. This session will be a great way to explore new techniques, learn the beauty of working with what already exists, and build something lasting.

At Home Activity: Reuse and Imagine

In the spirit of Rescued Wood, try creating your own upcycled art at home. Collect scraps, recyclables, or forgotten bits from a junk drawer and see what you can turn them into. Can an old spoon become a sculpture? Can packaging become canvas? Let your imagination take the lead!
