Lateef Kadara and the Allensworth Progressive Association have partnered up with My Voice Media Center to bring children's art to Allensworth.
Lateef is a talented artist and teacher in the community who has chosen to spend a couple of hours per month teaching art and relating the sessions to the art of mental health as well.
My Voice Media Center is dedicated to bringing art for those who have had a lived experience in mental health and we are proud to be expanding our session to youth. Getting the messages of mental health tools by likening the tools to our mental health toolbox allows the ideas of our mental wellness to be provided to the youth.
Staying well, recovery and mental wellness are fun ideas to learn about when you have the tools of art, as well! These tools and techniques are key to staying resilient and learning how to reduce the stigma.
The Allensworth Art Night is for children 0-18 to create art, learn how to express themselves through art, and learn tools about mental health through self-expression.
The session is located in Allensworth, CA. The children in the community use the Allensworth Community Center under the direction of our partnership with the Allensworth Progressive
Association and Lateef Kadara, the teaching artist. The session is once a month on the third Thursday, from 4-6 pm.
